Overview

The Production Team Leader is responsible for learning and maintaining a qualified skill set on all jobs within the assigned area. It is the responsibility of the Team Leader to ensure all Team Members within their assigned area are trained to company standards and promote safety within the team. The Team Leader performs various tasks ensuring production processes run efficiently and effectively. This position must communicate with Team Members and Group Leaders in the assigned team, as well as other areas, to ensure goals and standards are met.

Responsibilities

(To perform this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Promote Team Member understanding of company vision and goals
  • Create and maintain a positive morale, keeping Team Member spirits enhanced
  • Ensure Production Team Members have the proper tools and equipment to perform their jobs
  • Ensure product defects are repaired, minimized, and returned to the proper location
  • Monitor product inventory and communicate with the material handling team
  • Assist Team Members to ensure production lines continue to move
  • Ensure all Production Team Members’ equipment and workstations are cleaned daily
  • Observe and provide coaching to Team Members in workstation processes to ensure standards are followed
  • Meet daily production goals through continuous improvement and teamwork
  • Provide solutions and alternative methods for resolving production issues
  • Consistently communicate expectations, performance, and changes to Team Members
  • Provide and maintain the necessary daily production data and reports
  • Seek opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery
  • Conduct or participate in team and safety meetings, and promote safety within the workplace
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.)

Required Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus two (2) years of manufacturing experience
  • Previous Team Leader experience
  • Must meet attendance expectations
  • Must be able to work overtime

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience leading a team in a manufacturing environment
  • Other tasks assigned.

Preferred Education & Experience: 

  • Automotive experience 

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • None Required

Working Conditions:  

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, see, and hear
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. (unless otherwise specified for heavy lifting)
  • Must be able to climb, stoop, crouch, kneel, pull, and reach as needed
  • Frequently required to use both hands and possess adequate finger dexterity
  • Must be able to identify multiple colors (wiring harnesses and connectors)
  • Second shift position; training provided on first shift
