Overview

The Learning and Development Consultant is responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating training programs that enhance employee performance and support organizational growth developing at multiple MOBIS corporations in the U.S. This role requires a deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and change management to drive impactful learning experiences.  Other significant duties include but are not limited to: analyzing multiple data sources to identify learning gaps and training needs; coaching, mentoring and providing consultation to Employee Relations and Training Coordinators team members in MOBIS corporations; and utilizing knowledge of labor issues to determine appropriate and necessary training in grievance management and communication skills in the union environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts training needs assessments through surveys, interviews, and performance data analysis to identify skill gaps for Team Leads, Supervisors, and Managers.
  • Designs and delivers engaging learning solutions appropriate to the intended audience (e.g., workshops, e-learning, coaching sessions, facilitations, scenario-based instruction)
  • Collaborates with HR, legal and department leaders to align learning initiatives with business goals.
  • Evaluates training effectiveness using metrics and feedback to continuously improve programs.
  • Facilitates leadership development, onboarding and feedback sessions.
  • Stays current with industry trends and integrates innovative learning technologies.
  • Provides expert guidance on career development, succession planning, and talent management strategies.
  • Assists in the development and application of employee relation strategies, policies and practices.
  • Collaborates with employee relations members of each corporation to identify and create innovative solutions to training needs and feedback sessions.
  • Provides advanced employee relations expertise and/or represents MOBIS’ interests on matters covered by policies, procedures, guidelines, practices, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable labor laws/regulations.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding all elements and interactions of the workplace.
  • Develops and/or maintains databases, generating reports and utilizing data to make recommendations on training and other employee relations matters.
  • Maintains and/or develops relationships and, if necessary, coordinates training and employee relations issues all OEM automotive plants and suppliers including Mercedes, Nissan, Volkswagen, BMW, Subaru, Toyota, KIA and Hyundai.
  • Prepares written reports, correspondence, and presentations to senior leadership, as needed.
  • Keeps current on employee relations legal, labor relations and industry trends.
  • Leads by example, by modeling compliance with all company policies.

Qualifications

(The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Labor Relations, Human Resources or related fields are preferred)
  • At least Five years of experience in an HR or Employee Relations role
  • At least Five years of experience designing and implementing training for adult learners

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles
  • Ability to conduct training needs assessment and analyze related data in strategic training planning.
  • Ability to design and implement innovative learning solutions.
  • Excellent instructional, communication, facilitation and change management skills
  • Proven knowledge of union work environments and support for management in those environments
  • Ability to develop executive level presentations and to implement strategic direction
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor ER members at all sites

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in human resources or related field
  • Professional Human Resources Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP or higher)
  • Working experience in unionized company (negotiation experience with UAW is preferred)
