Overview

The Training Specialist collaborates with the Plant Leadership Team to complete an annual training needs analysis, to establish an annual training plan and to administer the MAL-SV Learning Management System (LMS)The incumbent identifies critical business and individual training needs and coordinates job specific Instructor Led, E-Learning, and Seminar type training to ensure that business goals are met. 

Responsibilities

  • Administers and maintains a Learning and Development Strategy for the entire organization 
  • Identifies training needs and training gaps in the organization by conducting an annual training needs analysis 
  • Develops customized job specific training and leadership development courses designed to engage and motivate Team Members 
  • Collaborates with Managers to provide development training for High Potential Team members who are part of the Succession Planning Program 
  • Manages the annual training budget, evaluates on-going training expenditures, and participates in the annual business planning process 
  • Monitors contracts with external vendors and introduces continual improvement initiatives  
  • Oversees the quality of training sessions conducted by external vendors, makes adjustments where needed 
  • Monitors training trends, provides reports, and implements continuous improvement ideas 
  • Collaborates with Supervisors and Managers to identify Performance Management Solutions for on-going Team Member development  
  • Coordinates and manages the new hire On-Boarding/Sponsorship Process and New Employee Orientation Program  
  • Works with Managers to develop and to implement individual training plans for new salaried hires and salaried transferees 
  • Manages the new hire probationary process, sends updates, and ensures probation documents are included in the Team Member’s personnel file   
  • Creates and maintains annual training calendars 
  • Tracks training effectiveness and ensures an annual return on investment

Qualifications

(The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.) 

 

Required Education & Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education or related field 
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in training and development 
Knowledge of State and Federal employment laws 
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal management skills
 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

• Experience in administration of a Learning Management System (LMS) 
• Experience creating, customizing, and delivering effective training 
• Experience using training needs assessment tools 
Proven knowledge of training processes and procedures 
Proven classroom facilitation skills 
Proven budgeting development and management skills 
Ability to manage time and projects to ensure completion of annual training plans 
Excellent PowerPoint and Excel experience  
 

Preferred Education & Experience: 

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education or related field 
  • SHRM Certification  
  • SAP experience 
  • Training experience in a fast paced industrial manufacturing environment
